MS – Persuasive billboard advertisement

Introduction

Students will use Paint.NET to create a persuasive advertisement for a billboard. Students will reference the following list and choose a persuasive technique(s) to use for their advertisements. The advertisement will be for a product or service that the student creates. Students may not use existing branded products. Students can search the internet and use images to modify and incorporate into their advertisements.

*Students are required to open this blog post on their computers to reference for this assignment.

Students will save this template

(right-click on the picture and choose “Save As”)

Project Checklist

  • Original product OR service
  • Name of the product
  • Slogan
  • Use of at least 1 specific persuasive technique
  • Supporting images/graphics
  • Design principle questions to ask yourself:
    • Are my graphics and text balanced?
    • Do my colors work well with each other?
    • Is there sufficient contrast (i.e. text is readable)
    • Could someone quickly identify the product and purpose if they were driving by your billboard in a car?

Assignment – Step by Step

  1. Open your “photoshopped” image in Paint.NET.
  2. File -> Save As  ***change the file type to .jpg***
  3. Create a blog post.
  4. Title: Photoshopped green screen picture
  5. Content:
    1. Insert the “.jpg” image.
    2. Answer the following questions in PARAGRAPH FORM:
      • What does it mean to “photoshop” an image.
      • How did you “photoshop” your image?
      • Why do advertising companies “photoshop” their images?
  6. Category: Assignments
  7. Tags: whatever you choose.
  8. Publish!
