Robotics – Sensor presentations

Objectives

  • Students present and explain the functions and usage of the sensors (color, ultrasound).
  • Students put into practice their knowledge about the sensors and program the robot to utilize the sensor.

Group A Color Sensor

  • sensor test with different colors
  • follow the black line on the testpad
  • program the robot to announce (sound) the colors as it recognizes them
  • how big should the start point be?

Group B Ultra Sound Sensor

  • test course with obstacles
  • detect an obstacle, stop as close as possible to the obstacle
  • program the robot to announce (sound) the distance to the obstacle
  • program the robot to drive around the obstacle
Timeslots (hands on robot)
3.30-3.50 Presentations
3.50-4.10 A Color Sensors
4.10-4.30 B Ultra Sound Sensor

Robotics – Save & Sensors

Save: The Lego Mindstrom Software doesn’t saves files for Users under UNC paths like \\srv1\project\ Users can save files to drives with dirve letter like D:\, V:\, Z:\ and USB thumbdrive with drive letter.

Sensors: All sensors values can be viewed on the NXT controller with > View > ’select sensor’ > ’select port”

Robotics – Sensors

Presentation Specs

Read, explore and test ALL sensors one-by-one, check user guide, search online (youtube, google, etc.)

  • What is the function of the sensor?
  • How far is its reach?
  • How fast does the sensor and software react?
  • Test the sensors one-by-one and document the results.
  • **Record/note your research
