Primary – Music Video Recording

Stage 2
Today is Stage 2 of the Music Video project. The students did a great job deciding, searching, and saving the pictures to be used in the video.
The students will now move on to organizing the pictures in Movie Maker. In the mean-time, each group will record their portion of the video in front of the green screen. Each group will be responsible for:
- operating the video camera
- holding the lyrics (to be read by those in front of the green screen)
- lip-syncing their parts

Stage 1
The intial stage of this project will involve searching for images to go with the music video. Students will use the following site to find their images:
Students will follow a 4 step process:
- Read - read a line from the song lyrics
- Decide - what types of pictures will best illustrate this line?
- Search - use keywords to find the pictures
- Save - save the picture into a shared location on the network.

Students will transfer a few poems from their publisher files into a new Microsoft Word document.
- Poems should fit on a single page.
- Students will use 2 column formatting in Word.
- Students can decorate their page with borders.
- Students can enhance the message/story of their poems with clip art.
G5A – Site Mapping
Students will be given a web site (Merriam-Webster’s Word Central) to explore. The goal is for students to become adept in navigating webpages (i.e. locate the primary navigation bar, identify the options for other pages to navigate to, identify headers on a page, etc.)
Students will record information about the website into an electronic worksheet.
G5 – Create a house
Feb 23rd
Students will use Paint.NET to create a house. Students will keep the various objects to build the house on separate layers in Paint.NET.
The 2 main focuses of this project are to:
- Use layers
- Create detail

G5 – Green screen – you!
Jan 26th
Students will be practicing their skills with layers and extracting an image from a green screen to complete the “scooter project”.
- Search for a background image
- Save the image
- Insert the image into a layer in Paint.NET
- Insert the picture of you into a new layer in the same Paint.NET file
- Remove the green screen
- Arrange/resize the layers
G5 – Resize, import layers
Jan 19th
Students will continue with the green screen scooter project.

Students will practice extracting the green background from this scooter. The scooter will then be placed on another image to create a new composition.
